| Experience: | Four years ago, I worked my first summer job: I taught art, soccer, and ultimate frisbee at a summer camp in Washington. I loved my time there, and in later summers I worked at two other summer camps teaching art, go-kart building, video game design, and sports. Because my first unofficial teaching instruction took place in a summer camp setting, I have always regarded teaching as an innovative, fun process. Last semester, I completed an early education course at Cal that required three hours of volunteer work per week at a local elementary school, where I was again reminded of the need for good, committed teachers. I want to tutor because I have seen and experienced firsthand how every student has a different learning process that classroom teachers may not necessarily have time to foster because of curriculum requirements and time pressure. I want to help students feel good about their work and their own understanding of difficult material, and I am particularly interested in tutoring literacy and writing because writing has always been important to me, and I believe that everyone with something to say has the potential to be a great writer.
Recent classes I have taken include Adv. Spanish Grammar and Composition, Spanish Literature, Beginning Chinese for Nonnative Speakers, Introduction to Cognitive Science, College-Level Calculus, General Chemistry, Plant Biology for non-majors, Social and Cultural Anthropology, a survey course on Education, and Education field studies.

| Hobbies: | I am a patient 20-year-old who loves cooking, backpacking, travel, languages, and reading. My favorite places at Cal are the UC botanical gardens, the music library, and Cheese Board Pizza, and when I'm not on campus or studying at home I like to take hikes in the area and play pick-up soccer. |
