I graduated as Valedictorian of my high school class of 2010. I have received my BA in Integrative Biology in May 2014 from the University of California at Berkeley.
Experience
I love tutoring students and helping them learn and achieve. It is not only extremely rewarding for the students' sense of accomplishment and understanding, but also for my personal satisfaction witnessing students learning and appreciating their subject material. Their ultimate happiness with themselves and their work is what makes it so worthwhile for me. I have had ample tutoring experience for the past 8 years, tutoring throughout high school as well as in college. I tutored and mentored students at Berkeley High School in my free time. In addition, I provide great study advice for the SAT, having taken the test twice as well as an SAT course. In addition to my tutoring experience, I've also been a teacher's assistant for Academic Talent Search in Sacramento, CA. I helped teach two classes--Geometry and Solving Mysteries with Science. This type of teaching experience was invaluable because it focused on peer and mentor interactions, which are crucial to tutoring skills. *I played the piano for 11 years prior to entering UC Berkeley, and can assist with music theory or piano lessons.* I would love to answer any further questions about my background or activities in or outside of UC Berkeley. I have a variety of hobbies and interests! I love to be outdoors. Hiking, kayaking, swimming, traveling, and boating are some of my favorite things to do. I also enjoy reading, poetry, drawing, writing, and most of all, music. I played the piano for 11 years prior to entering UC Berkeley and learned music theory.
