Experience

Hi! My name is Sarah, and I am a 22-year-old recent grad from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). I have experience tutoring at the middle, high school, and college levels and I specifically tailor my tutoring approach to each individual. For high school and college, I specialize in algebra, biology, chemistry, and SAT/ACT test prep, and at the middle/elementary school level, I can help with all subjects. My qualifications: I graduated with a double major in chemical-biological engineering and biology. At MIT, I took extensive classes in heat and mass transfer, reactor design, fluidics, physiology, and genetics. ACT Score: 35. I have growing tutoring experience in a variety of subjects, including varying levels of math, chemistry, and biology. I also volunteered to give special presentations about women in STEM fields to middle and high schools in the area. I currently work at a biotech company where I work with the cutting edge of protein expression techniques on a daily basis. Why I tutor: Learning should be fun. To make this happen, each student deserves an individualized program infused with the right dose of humor, real-world application, and structure. Humor is one of the most effective, yet under-utilized tools in learning that can help form connections through silliness. Real-world applications bring a sense of purpose to the room along with an understanding of how the material fits into life outside the classroom. Structure provides a framework to set goals in a clear, consistent manner. Most of all, I just love to help people learn and gain a sense of connection to the academic world. If you have a question or would like to schedule a lesson, please don't hesitate to contact me! I hope to hear from you soon! Sarah
