EducationBS in Chemistry from the University of Georgia in 2004 (4.0 GPA)
PhD in Chemistry doing organic synthesis from the University of California, Berkeley in 2009 (4.0 GPA)
ExperienceI scored a 5.0 on my AP Chem exam which allowed me to exempt my Freshman year of chemistry, but I took it anyway to keep my skills sharp!
I served as a lab instructor at UGA from 2003-2004 after completing the coursework for my undergraduate degree but before even graduating because I had been such an outstanding student.
At UC Berkeley, I served as a graduate student instructor for Chem 3B and Chem 112B for three semesters. For two of these semesters, I was awarded the campus's Outstanding GSI award, a distinction only awarded to a few GSIs across all disciplines.
I was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow, which helped me fund my graduate school experience. I was also awarded a Barry Goldwater Scholarship for excellence in undergraduate science research.
HobbiesI am originally from Georgia, and moved out to California for Graduate school. I don't think I'll be leaving any time soon. I love to cook, am an avid cyclist, and enjoy a leisurely run as well. Yoga also tends to calm me down!
