Chris P.
Private tutor in Berkeley, CA
Education
Spanish and Comparative Literature Major at San Francisco State University. I graduated in May 2013. My overall GPA was 3.29. I was accepted into Phi Gamma Iota, an international foreign language honor society, for receiving a 3.6 GPA in the Spanish department.
Experience
I lived in Madrid, Spain from 2004 to 2007 and taught ESL during this time. My students ranged in age, from 5 years-old to adults and level, from beginner to upper-intermediate/ advanced. Since I have been back I've continued to tutor both ESL and Spanish on a regular basis. I am currently renewing my TEFL certificate and hope to find more opportunities to teach both Spanish and English. I am also passionate about reading and writing and would love to tutor those subjects as well. During my first year at the university, I returned to Madrid to participate in SF State's study abroad program. At Madrid's Universidad Complutense, I studied Spanish literature from El Cid to post-Spanish Civil War writers of the mid-Twentieth Century. I also took two semesters of Comparative Syntax (English-Spanish), which allowed me the opportunity to practice translating between the two languages and gave me a deeper understanding of both.

Hobbies
I love reading and writing. I am almost never without a book. I recently finished reading Haruki Murakami's latest novel and loved it!! I am also planning to edit and publish my first short-story anthology and have been working on a blog to review new books in translation.
