Program yoUr Future, a non-profit outreach program, aims at preparing young junior high students (girls only) and high school students for a great college education and success in technical careers. Location: UC Berkeley & International Computer Science Institute (BART-accessible) 2015 PUF Program Dates: PUF Girls' Hackers Academy: August 3 - August 14 (for Grades 6-9th girls) Incoming 7th, 8th, & 9th grade Girls: You must apply to PUF with Priority Status by June 30, 2015! PUF High School Chemistry BootCamp: July 6 - August 2 (for HS-aged youth) PUF High School SAT/PSAT/ACT Math BootCamp: July 6 - August 2 (for HS-aged youth) PUF High School Physics BootCamp: July 6 - August 2 (for HS-aged youth) Email us for more information on how to register no later than June 25, 2015! The PUF Girls' Hacker Academy strives for greater awareness among women in technology by complimenting San Francisco Bay Area middle school girls’ education with programming basics using and Scratch, GIS, Web Development, and Python, networking skills, valuable mentorship opportunities under IT and STEM mentors and key note speakers, and fieldtrips to local museums or tech companies. No programming experience or prior computer science knowledge is necessary to participate! The girls will form a strong community and enduring friendships! Students will also have the opportunity to receive prizes! Program yoUr Future aspires to increase the number of women and minorities in formerly male-dominated technology industries. Fun hands-on Interdisciplinary STEM activities Keep their own products as souvenir! Social Issue Challenge and IT solution Design The Program yoUr Future Academic Boot Camps will also host three very special month-long STEM-focused Academic BOOTCAMPS (Chemistry, Physics, and SAT/PSAT/ACT Math), open to all HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS! Students are encouraged to enroll into all three HS sessions! Admissions, Program yoUr Future We will be reviewing our applications on a rolling basis. Therefore, the sooner you apply, the higher the chances are for admission! Some advanced students may also be eligible to apply into certain programs. Our programs significantly enhance the education of middle school and high school participants who aspire to pursue careers in science, engineering and entrepreneurship, especially those from minority backgrounds and other underrepresented segments of the population. IMAGINE A SUMMER CAMP THAT YOU'LL LOVE. PUF Students find themselves engrossed in engineering design challenges, science projects, and hands-on activities that make them think and express their ideas with complete freedom! Our curriculum team spends thousands of hours developing creative approaches to science, math, physics, and engineering concepts. We interview several applicants to find the most talented counselors and instructors. We expose our students to an innovation process directly taught by UC Berkeley, Stanford University, and industry personnel.
