One of the most important aspects was knowing what the student was working on and asking questions that stimulated their thinking. It was also important that I listened carefully, explained things clearly, and cared about the student and their writing. A minor aspect of my work was to help students understand course material and develop useful strategies for writing and studying. Personally, it was meaningful to me to help students develop their own voice while meeting the demands of an academic audience.
