Private tutor in Berkeley, CA
Williams College - Bachelors, Mathematics and English
I am currently studying clinical psychology at the University of California-Berkeley. I also majored in English and math at Williams College. My philosophy as a tutor involves discovering exactly what areas my students are having difficulties in and helping to inspire interest in the subject matter by providing positive encouragement. I believe learning can be a transformative experience for students, which is why it is imperative to help give them the tools necessary to succeed. I have experience tutoring students in a range of different countries, cultures, subjects, and ages. I am most comfortable tutoring students in algebra, pre-algebra, quantitative reasoning, college English, multivariable calculus, English literature and composition, English, trigonometry, calculus, and United States history. I also have experience helping students prepare for standardized tests, including, the SAT, SAT subject tests, GRE, SSAT, ISEE, and HSPT. As a tutor, I place a high emphasis on helping students develop study skills, adaptive and flexible thinking, and helping students develop critical thinking skills. In terms of hobbies, I enjoy holistic living, people, meditation, yoga, spending time outdoors, painting, baking, reading, cooking, hiking, biking, running, and fiction. I also enjoy asking intellectual questions and exploring the answers that go along with them.
