EducationBrown University - Bachelors, Chemistry , University of California-Berkeley - PHD, Chemistry
ExperienceI went to Brown University to earn my bachelor's degree in chemistry. After graduating, I moved on to UC - Berkeley in pursuit of a doctoral degree in chemistry. I currently teach the lab portion of an organic chemistry course, provide office hours to undergraduate students to help them individually, and teach science in an elementary school classroom. I really enjoy tutoring because of the opportunity to focus on one student and their individual needs. I enjoy sharing what I know with others in terms of subject material as well as learning skills. My tutoring specialties are chemistry and standardized test preparation.
When I work with students, I modify my approach to match each student's learning style. I figure out how the student thinks about problems, and I work with the students through problems to explain concepts along the way and help students find the right answers. I slowly pull back from this until the student is able to eventually solve the problem all by themselves. I was inspired to tutor by all the great mentors and teachers I've had throughout my academic experience, and I want to pay back by helping my students in the same way. In my spare time, I enjoy learning Bollywood dance, cooking, going on hikes, and spending time with my nephew.
