Education

I recently received my PhD in Chemistry from UC Berkeley, where I developed new methods for performing organic synthesis on ultra-high surface area porous solids. During my PhD, I also served as my lab's safety officer, in which I was responsible for maintaining a safe lab environment, and training new members of the group.

Experience

Teaching has always been a big part of my life, from tutoring my four brothers and teaching martial arts in middle and high school, to more formalized teaching during my PhD studies. I've always been focused on gradual and consistent self improvement with clear goals, and I hope to instill this mindset in those that I teach. During my PhD, I taught three semesters of organic chemistry laboratory (Chem 3AL), a role that included pre-lab lectures, regular office hours, and exam proctoring/grading. In addition, I was for two years an instructor for the UC Berkeley Labratory Research Experience Program, where I designed and taught a two week long lab and lecture course in my field of research to a class of 30 international undergraduate students. Teaching materials I designed for this course went on to be published in the Journal of Chemical Education.
