Experience
I am a veterinarian with a master’s degree in theology and I am currently pursuing a PhD in theology at Regis College, which is part of the University of Toronto. I am back home in Cincinnati doing substitute veterinary work while I continue the research and writing part of my PhD studies. In my experience I have found that young people of all ages from toddlers to college students have open and inquiring minds and it is exciting and very gratifying to help them learn everything they can and become creative thinkers on their own. As a veterinarian with a bachelor’s degree in biology, I have a strong academic background in math and science and the ability to not only teach these subjects but to show students how relevant math and science are to their future careers and to their lives. As a PhD student in theology with a strong academic background in the humanities, I have excellent research and writing skills, a fascination with theology and philosophy, a love of the arts and literature, and a passion for the English language. I am well qualified to help students study these subjects and discover their own passions and academic talents. I have taught zoo classes to grade school age children at the Cincinnati Zoo. I also have experience teaching children at “career days” at various schools where I talked about being a veterinarian and used props such as my stethoscope and x-rays to teach students about my profession. I have also helped to teach theology at Xavier University. I spend lots of time with my young nieces and nephew, and their questions and games and insightful remarks give me the opportunity to teach them new things all the time. I look forward to having all those teaching and learning opportunities with your student!
