Education

University of Utah - BS, Mathematics

Experience

I am a tutor with an extensive background in math and science. I graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. I also minored in chemistry. I gained experience as a math tutor in both college and high school. I gained experience in college as a teaching assistant in both the mathematics and chemistry departments. This has given me the necessary experience and confidence to succeed in teaching many different subjects in both disciplines. In regard to math, I am able to tutor students in algebra 1, calculus 1-3, differential equations, geometry, pre-calculus, statistics, competition math, multivariable calculus, arithmetic, and algebra 3/4. I am also able to tutor students in many different science related subjects, including anatomy, biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physical science, and physics. Additionally, I am available to help students develop effective study skills and prepare for standardized tests. My philosophy as a tutor emphasizes alternative learning styles because I feel like simply memorizing facts is not enough to succeed in exams and classes. I focus on utilizing suggestions and questions that can point the student in the right direction without explicitly giving them the answers. Outside of school, I enjoy playing video games, speedcubing, learning urban dance styles, and digital art.
