Experience
I love teaching and I hope to be able to help for many many years. I meet with students in Berkeley, Pleasanton, San Carlos. Walnut Creek, San Ramon and San Rafael areas. My availability varies greatly, but I try to accommodate students as much as I can. I have many years of classroom experience, teaching math classes, including calculus and statistics at universities and colleges. I have been doing paid and unpaid tutoring for over 25 years. My son finished medical school, he also has a degree in Biochemical engineering. My daughter is a senior at UC Berkeley studying Energy Engineering. I always volunteered at my children's schools. Now that my children do not need me as much as before; I try to help other children more. I am quite knowledgeable because of my great education. However, my real value stems from my natural patience. My students all say that I put them at ease and that makes them feel free to learn. I am also able to explain the same thing in many different ways, or find different tools to help them learn and retain the material. I am the first child in my large extended family to graduate from middle school, and I was able to go all the way to get a college degree and then a PhD. After that, almost all of my siblings and cousins graduated from college and I was always there to help them--until I had to move to US to get my doctorate. However, to this day, they say that I not only helped them to learn, I inspired them. After school play dates at our house always started with them doing their homework after a nutritious snack. This always surprised the playmates' parents, they could not believe that the homework was finished or at least halfway done when they came to pick up their children. I helped them to learn the material by turning it into some kind of game and then watched them do their homework. When one of them made a mistake I helped them to figure out their mistake and then correct it by themselves.
